As you can see, I’m still clearing my backlog and I still have a few more shoots to go through…sigh.
A special thanks to Hexlord and yang for inviting me along. As you might notice the location for this particular photoshoot is different than normal. We also decided to have lunch there, I can;t remember what everyone else order including myself however I can only remember Yang ordered a nice desert which was warm.
I have to be honest but the first thought of me shooting in a bar that was open to the public didn’t seem like a very comfortable one as there would be people instead giving awkward stares nor would the management of the bar be too pleased. Turns out I was overreacting which is a good thing. Things to be mindful when shooting in a public store (provided its appropriate to do so in the first place) is that you need to take note what kind of shop it is, obviously if its going to be a supermarket or something I don’t think it would work out (prove me wrong), places like restaurants, diners, cafes, bars etc you might be able to get away with but I guess it depends on the kind of staff working there at the time. If it’s a place like that chances are you’ll have to purchase something. I mean it’s only fair that you do so as you are using their space. You may also want to research on whether photography is allowed in some areas as well. I know that some countries do not tolerate photography in certain places so its essential to be mindful of such restrictions. Next thing is would be finding a time of day where it is considered off-peak for the chosen location as going there while the place is full of people isn’t a smart idea, it may even be possible to inquire this detail with the staff. If you do end up shooting at a place like this finding a nice little place to sit down (preferably a corner) or somewhere out of the way as this would prevent annoying other customers or staff.
I’m sure I left out a heap more but most of them are common sense anyway. If you keep those points you should be fine in most cases to shoot at your desired location, if not then its good to have a backup location or else better luck next time I suppose. For the full gallery click here.
